About Green RISE Africa
Green RISE (Resilient Impact through Sustainable Entrepreneurship) Africa is a four-year, multi-country programme supported by the Mastercard Foundation and implemented by the African Management Institute (AMI) in partnership with Acumen. The programme supports nano- and micro-entrepreneurs and last-mile workers in the green economy — solar and off-grid energy, clean cooking, sustainable agriculture, and circular economy/waste — using AMI's evidence-based GROW Pro methodology.
Across Nigeria, Rwanda, Ghana, and Sierra Leone, Green RISE Africa is working toward 67,000 Youth in Work (YiW): young people aged 18–35 who secure new, additional, or improved income-generating work as a direct result of the programme. At least 70% of participants will be young women, with dedicated inclusion targets for forcibly displaced persons and persons with disabilities.
Delivery happens through a network of ESOs and BDS Providers who bring community trust, sector expertise, and last-mile reach supported by AMI's training methodology, coaching tools, and digital learning platform.

We are inviting organisations that meet the following profile to submit an Expression of Interest:
-
Active presence in Nigerian communities — rural or peri-urban, with existing trust relationships with nano- or micro-entrepreneurs (not just a registered office).
-
Track record in a green economy sector — solar/renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, circular economy/waste, or clean cooking.
-
Demonstrated reach to young women (18–35) — as a primary group, not an incidental one.
-
Commitment to safeguarding — a written safeguarding and child protection policy, or a credible plan to put one in place.
-
Willingness to adopt AMI's training methodology — GROW Pro — as your primary delivery content.
-
Basic data systems — or willingness to adopt AMI's digital registration and participant-tracking tools.
We welcome applications from Business Development Service (BDS) providers, Enterprise Support Organisations (ESOs) and aggregator networks, women- and youth-focused associations, and organisations already active in green value chains.
-
-
Milestone-based contracts — paid on delivery of outcomes, not just activities.
-
AMI tools & methodology provided — GROW Pro training materials, coaching frameworks, and a digital learning platform, all supplied by AMI.
-
MEL support — AMI's Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning team helps set up data systems and participant tracking from day one.
-
GESI onboarding — gender equality and social inclusion advisory support from Kore Global, Acumen's appointed GESI lead.
-
Capacity building — safeguarding induction, Washington Group disability-screening training, and ongoing delivery coaching.

What AMI Programme Participants Say
Before joining AMI, I faced challenges with cash flow, team management, and long-term planning; I was working hard but without a clear path. The programme gave me practical tools and a new mindset. Today, I make decisions based on data. I used to rely on instinct, but now I rely on strategy.. Now I set monthly goals, manage the team more intentionally, and track revenue and customer satisfaction, something I never did before.

We had an ambitious vision to improve healthcare in Ethiopia, but the way we operated wasn't built to scale. AMI's Aspire Programme helped us build the systems, strategy, and the leadership we needed to grow sustainably. Today, Waliif Healthcare has grown from 35 employees to more than 250, with annual revenue exceeding US$5 million. We're now sharing what we've learned, with other Ethiopian businesses coming to us to strengthen their own systems and ways of working.

What AMI Programme Participants Say
I was passionate about baking, but I knew very little about running a business. AMI, through the Kasipreneur Impact Programme (KIP), taught me how to understand my target market, strengthen my marketing, and put systems in place that helped me run my business professionally. In just three months, my monthly revenue increased by 160%. Since then, my one-woman business has grown into a team creating jobs for six young people in my community.

The Grow Your Business (GYB) programme pushed me to face tough truths about my business, from poor planning to staff issues. But it also gave me practical tools to turn things around. I became more organised, improved accountability, and learned how to motivate my team. Since then, our revenue has grown by over 84% and we’ve hired a young team member for fulfilment.

What AMI Programme Participants Say
For years, the business depended almost entirely on me. AMI's Grow Your Business Programme helped me build the systems and team needed to scale. These improvements helped us record a 150% increase in revenue in 2025. Today, we're building a business that can grow beyond its founder.

When our team shifted to a hybrid work setup, we had fewer staff in the office while others worked remotely. By learning from the programme how to communicate effectively, I became confident to empower my teammates to accomplish their daily tasks properly irrespective of us being in the office

What AMI Programme Participants Say
AMI used its blended learning approach to ensure the programme translated into actual on-the-job practice and performance improvement. My sense is that the value generated from the team projects alone has more than paid for the programme itself. We’ve had a great experience with AMI over the last 4 years and consider them a valuable learning partner.

What AMI Programme Participants Say
The tools were a game changer. Before Aspire, we kept postponing decisions while managing daily operations. Now, we have a clear process for making both big and small decisions. As a result, our revenue has grown, and our business continues to thrive, thanks to Aspire.

What AMI Programme Participants Say
There’s plenty of training content and tools available online, but very little is tailored to the African context. That’s what makes AMI stand out. The facilitators and participants bring local insights into every discussion, ensuring that feedback and guidance are relevant and practical. This has made me more likely to recommend AMI. As an admin at Workpay, I also appreciated their excellent customer service.

What AMI Programme Participants Say
I learned how to delegate effectively and build trust within my team using practical coaching tools. The Growth Mindset Learning Lab also helped me improve my presentation skills, making our meetings more engaging. As a result, attendance grew from 100 to 695 in a short time.
