Odile Ufitinema stepped into the role of Growth Guide with a strong sense of confidence in her ability to support others, built from years of training and experience in entrepreneurship. She had long believed that young people, when given the right guidance and encouragement, could build successful income-generating activities, and saw this role as an opportunity to turn that belief into action, particularly by helping youth gain the courage to start and grow their own businesses.

Her impact is visible both within her own family and across the wider community. She began by helping those closest to her adopt better financial habits, encouraging them to save through cooperatives, promote their products, track income and expenses, and improve how they engage with customers. She extended this support to young people in her community by guiding them to form savings groups, understand their market competition, and build the confidence to approach financial institutions. One of the most powerful examples of her impact is a young woman she supported who started with very small earnings, using just 50 RWF to begin trading vegetables. Through consistency and reinvestment, she gradually grew her business, reaching a capital of 1,000,000 RWF within a year and a half, and is now supplying other traders. Stories like this highlight how small beginnings, when combined with guidance and determination, can lead to significant transformation.

Odile has reached and continues to support a large number of young people, building on her previous leadership roles within youth groups and her ongoing commitment to providing training and mentorship. Her approach focuses on making financial access more achievable by helping entrepreneurs understand available loan options, including those with low interest rates, and guiding them through the process of preparing requirements. She also supports those without collateral by encouraging alternative approaches, such as contributing a portion of the required funds while structuring their business plans to meet financial institution expectations.

Unlike many areas where access remains limited, some of the youth Odile has supported have successfully secured loans, which she describes as a deeply rewarding experience. It has strengthened her confidence and motivated her to continue supporting even more young entrepreneurs on their journey toward growth and independence.

Through this role, she has also grown personally, gaining stronger confidence, public speaking skills, and a deeper understanding of inclusion, particularly the importance of ensuring that women, youth, and persons with disabilities are equally supported and empowered. She actively encourages collaboration within households, emphasizing that when families work together, businesses are more likely to succeed and grow.

Her vision is to see young people become confident, innovative, and self-reliant, creating their own opportunities and investing in ideas that generate income. She believes that entrepreneurship, combined with creativity and access to financial services, can transform not only individual lives but entire communities.

Her message to young people is clear and practical: seek knowledge, stay active, avoid idleness, and use available platforms to learn from others who are already succeeding in business. She encourages them to be creative, take initiative, and make use of training opportunities, believing that growth begins with action and a willingness to keep learning.
